Following several years of successful implementation in Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City and nearby provinces including Binh Duong, Hung Yen and Bac Ninh, the program will expand in 2026 to four new regions: the Red River Delta (Ninh Binh), the South Central Coast (Da Nang), the Central Highlands (Dak Lak) and the Mekong Delta (Can Tho). Eligible participants are also expanded to include women who still face significant barriers in accessing healthcare services, such as low-income and seasonal workers, ethnic minority women, single mothers, women with disabilities, women from poor households, and those whose families have been affected by hardship or natural disasters.

According to the Ministry of Health, as of 2020, only 28.2% of women aged 30 to 49 had ever been screened for cervical cancer^[1]. Breast cancer screening rates were similarly low, with just 18.8% of women performing monthly self-examinations, 22.4% having undergone a clinical breast exam, and even fewer receiving regular mammograms within the target age group¹. Access also remained uneven between urban and rural areas: mammography rates stood at roughly 32% in cities compared with 18% in the countryside and were even lower in mountainous regions and among ethnic minority communities¹. Geographic distance, financial hardship and cultural barriers surrounding topics considered "sensitive" - such as gynaecological exams - have pushed specialized healthcare to the bottom of the priority list for many women in remote and ethnic minority communities. Recognizing these challenges and echoing the Ministry of Health’s national action plan on breast and cervical cancer prevention and control for 2026–2035, "Tap to Share, Give Hope 2026" chooses to go the extra mile to reach women with limited access to healthcare services. Each participant will receive free screening for three of the most common cancers among women, including breast, ovarian and cervical cancer. The program also covers travel costs to local screening sites and provides packages of essential goods as a gesture of encouragement and support for the beneficiaries.

That spirit runs through the message the program has chosen for 2026 – "The Path to Her" – expressing empathy: rather than leaving women to overcome multiple barriers on their own to reach a health screening opportunity, the program builds a journey that brings screening activities closer to where they live.

Every Tap – A Share of Care

Building on a funding model refined over several years, the program combines support from NAPAS, Mastercard and Payoo with consumers’ everyday spending. From September to December 2026, each eligible contactless payment made with a Mastercard or NAPAS card at Payoo’s partner merchants will generate a VND 2,010 donation to the screening program. Consumers can therefore support the initiative with a single tap when paying for everyday purchases, from buying a morning coffee to shopping for groceries or checking out at a convenience store.

In parallel, the "Healthy Miles, Healthy Life" activity will raise additional funds through events at university campuses in northern, central and southern Vietnam, as well as a 60-day online challenge. Each kilometer completed through the online activity will generate a VND 2,010 contribution, while each kilometer run or walked at an on-campus event will generate a VND 20,100 contribution.

A distinctive feature of this year’s journey is a deeper exploration of local culture and heritage, captured through a documentary series following a woman who rows boats for a living in Trang An, Ninh Binh, and an ethnic minority woman in the Central Highlands. Told in their own voices, the stories reveal the women’s experiences with healthcare and offer glimpses into daily life, cuisine, and customs in their respective regions. Selected images from the series will be showcased at the program’s closing ceremony in December, giving the community a deeper understanding of the women’s lives and their communities, while inspiring a more proactive approach to healthcare.

From major cities and university campuses to remote villages, every activity is guided by a shared goal: encouraging healthy lifestyles across the community and sharing the responsibility of healthcare with the women who face the greatest disadvantages in accessing medical services.

Looking back at the journey from a hair-donation activity for cancer patients in Ho Chi Minh City in 2023, the program has gradually expanded its scope. In 2024, more than 2,010 screening packages were delivered to disadvantaged women in Ho Chi Minh City and Hanoi. In 2025, the program expanded to Binh Duong, Hung Yen and Bac Ninh. In 2026, it officially reaches four localities across four distinct geographical regions of the country.

Over four years, thousands of screening packages have been delivered to women facing hardship. Millions of transactions have contributed to positive change. From a small initiative, the program has grown into a community movement, drawing the participation of consumers, universities, hospitals and the business community. This is testament to the ever-widening reach of a journey for the health and happiness of Vietnamese women.

To carry the "The Path to Her" journey to new regions, "Tap to Share, Give Hope" welcomes continued support from individuals, businesses and social organizations, including local Women’s Unions, hospitals, stakeholders, banks, retailers and universities across the four provinces. Every tap of a card, every kilometer run, and every share of the program’s content all help shorten the distance to the women who need care most.
