The conference was attended by Mr. Nguyen Quoc Hung - General Secretary of the Banking Association, NAPAS Board of Directors and leaders of more than 60 NAPAS member organizations.

In the conference program, NAPAS summarized the main activities in 2022 and some significant results achieved through close coordination with member organizations.

Accordingly, 2022 is the year of socio-economic recovery and development after the pandemic. NAPAS has actively coordinated with Banks, Financial Companies, Payment intermediary service providers and partners to develop and provide payment services via card, bank account, quick response code (QR). Code), e-wallet, Mobile Money, ..; contribute to diversify non-cash payment methods as well as promote the rapid growth of electronic payment activities in Vietnam.

According to statistics in 2022, the total number and value of transactions through the NAPAS system grew by 92% and 83% respectively, compared to 2021; the number of card service users increased by 93% and account users increased by 174% compared to 2021.

Notably, the proportion of cash withdrawal transactions on the total number of transactions processed through the NAPAS system continued to decrease from 12.1% in 2021 to 6.9% in 2022; the proportion of domestic card payment transactions continued to increase from 29% in 2021 to 32% in 2022, showing the people have got used to and preferred paying with domestic cards to withdrawing and using cash.

With the goal of constantly expanding modern payment products and services to meet the payment needs of people, businesses and to support the economy, NAPAS has coordinated with member organizations to deploy many new projects  in 2022, in which:  Launching NAPAS 247 Quick Transfer service between payment account at bank and Mobile Money account of two operators Viettel and VNPT; expanding NAPAS 247 Quick Transfer service with VietQR code with 41 member organizations; expanding Vinbus e-ticket payment service to 20 member organizations; expanding payment service with VietQR code on National Public Service Portal with 17 member organizations.

At the same time, NAPAS has actively promoted international connection projects in the context of stimulating tourism and international trade after the epidemic such as: expanding international switching connection with BC Card in Korea; connecting QR payment with Thailand...

In addition, NAPAS has ensured continuous and safe operation at all times, even when the number of transactions suddenly increased in some peak occasions of the year. NAPAS and MEMBER ORGANIZATIONS have continuously researched and applied many technical and professional solutions to improve service quality (SLA) and reached 99.99%.

With the above activities, NAPAS has implemented activities to support people, businesses and member organizations through fee reduction programs with a total budget reduction of more than 1,700 billion; has continued to implement the chip card conversion program together with member organizations and communication activities and marketing programs to promote non-cash payment as well as develop domestic cards, payment in transportation, payment for public services, increasing many benefits for users.  

Speaking at the conference, Mr. Nguyen Quang Hung - Chairman of the Board of Directors of NAPAS said: In the past, the close cooperation of Member Organizations was an important factor for the overall success of non-cash payment in Vietnam. In the coming time, NAPAS will continue to make more efforts to bring simple and convenient payment services to people across the country, contributing to perfecting the digital payment platform.

At the Conference, NAPAS held a ceremony to honor member banks that have made outstanding contributions in the past year. In which, Bank of The Year was awarded to Vietcombank for its great contributions to the system and network; Outstanding Performance Bank belonged to MB, Techcombank, VietinBank with the total number and large transaction value.

The achievements in the journey of 2022 are a bright spot and great motivation for NAPAS and member organizations to continue accompanying, overcoming difficulties, taking advantage of opportunities, and providing modern, convenient and secure payment solutions to meet the needs of the people and the economy, effectively contribute to the national digital transformation, towards the common goal “For a cashless society”.
