Attending the ceremony, representing the Organizing Committee were Journalist Le Xuan Son, Editor-in-chief of Tien Phong Newspaper, Head of the Organizing Committee of Vietnam Card Day for the third time in 2023; Mr. Nguyen Quang Minh - General Director of National Payment Corporation of Vietnam (NAPAS), Deputy Head of the Organizing Committee of Vietnam Card Day for the third time in 2023; representatives from Emera Joint Stock Company.

Locally, there were Mr. Nguyen Quang Vinh - Vice Chairman of the People’s Committee of Cat Hai district; Ms. Ngo Thi Hong Tram - Deputy Head of the Department of Education and Training of Cat Hai district; Mr. Pham Hai Ninh - Vice Chairman of the People’s Committee of Tran Chau commune; the Board of Management of Ha Sen Elementary and Secondary School, Hai Phong City.

Ha Sen School is one of the schools with many students in poor circumstances in Cat Hai Island district, Hai Phong city. Receiving attention and support in the form of a computer classroom, teachers and students at the school were delighted and touched because they were exposed to computers for learning in the first time instead of learning by rote as they had done in the past.

Speaking at the donation ceremony, journalist Le Xuan Son shared that digital transformation is a global trend, and any place slow to adapt to digital changes will face the risk of falling behind. In the overall process of digital transformation, the banking sector is one of the pioneering fields. Stemming from this practical situation, and with the permission of the State Bank of Vietnam, Tien Phong Newspaper, in collaboration with the National Payment Corporation of Vietnam (NAPAS), organized the Vietnam Card Day event.

"The organizing committee allocated a portion of the funds to buy computers to donate to schools on Vietnam Card Day. We hope that teachers and students will effectively utilize the computer classrooms and become proficient in computer skills," Mr. Son stated.

Upon receiving the donation from the organizing committee, Principal Dinh Van Tan of Ha Sen Elementary and Secondary School affirmed that the ceremony to donate to the computer classroom was very meaningful for him and the school. The students’ dream of having a computer classroom for studying has become a reality.

On this occasion, the NAPAS Union also deducted a part of the budget along with the donation of the Company’s staff to award 20 scholarships valued 1 million VND each and gifts to 20 students in poor circumstances of Ha Sen School - Cat Hai, Hai Phong.

At the same time, the money donated from the NAPAS Union and their staff was also used to support medical expenses for two students, Le Minh Ngoc (class 5A1) and Nguyen Phu The (class 6A2), who are suffering from serious illnesses and undergoing treatment. The amount of support for Minh Ngoc is 14,850,000 VND and for Phu The is 15,550,000 VND.

The gift of kindness from NAPAS Union and their staff shared some of the difficulties of these students and their families, as well as give them more motivation and confidence to strive for a better life.
