NAPAS’s recommendations to customers to prevent fraudulent transactions
Secure all payment information including: Card number, valid date, OTP code, etc. Report immediately to the card/account issuing Bank as soon as possible if you notice any unusual events which may influence the safety and privacy of your card and account information.
When making payments, always keep the payment process in your sight. Temporary deactivate your card and/or contact the bank issuing your card/account to receive guidance when any abnormal issues are detected during the payment process.
Cover the keypad when entering your PIN code at ATMs and other payment devices.
Disable the online payment function of card when not using.
Check the OTP messages carefully, make sure that the content of OTP messages is correct with the transaction you are doing.
Register/Install notifications for account balance change at banks issuing cards/accounts.
Save hotline numbers of banks issuing cards/accounts on your phone.
Immediately call your issuing Banks hotline numbers to:
- Request for temporary block/deactivate your card/account if: (i) The account/card has balance fluctuations that are not initiated by the card/account holder; (ii) When your card or your phone (which the payment application is installed) is lost; etc.
- Verify information if receiving a call from someone claiming to be a bank employee and asking for your personal information, payment information/details of your card/account, and/or inviting you to engage in services such as card withdrawals, etc.
Do not click on any links in any text message or email to proceed online transactions You should type directly the address into the browser and carefully observe signs and lock symbols in the address bar to ensure that the payment website address / Internet banking address is accurate. In case you need the information verification, contact the issuing bank using the bank's hotline number.
Do not provide OTP password to ANYONE , even if they claim to be bank employees.
Do not lend or allow others to use your cards.
Do not let the cashier take your card out of your sight. Always make payments in front of you and within your control.
Do not trust announcements of great winning prizes value.
Do not transfer money when receiving messages on social networks. If necessary, you should reverify directly or via phone with relatives or the person requesting the money transfer.
